1. Unnamed Silence: Let's start out with a introduction to Gorrenje, as this is a new and maybe unknown band to the readers? Well - Gorrenje is a one-man-project,
founded in 2003 by me. The only thing
In a few old languages the word 'Gorrenje'
appears in connection with fire, 3. Unnamed Silence: I hear a lot of anger, sadness and longing in your music...what is your inspiration to make these great songs (musical, life..etc)? Look out of your window..., look at this
world of consumption and you'll They're so changeable... every month they've
got a new opinion. Such weak souls really 4. Unnamed Silence: A lot of bands
release first-demos that suck, but Gorrenje The response was positive - very positive. I had no one who told me that this Demo comes off badly or 'sucks' yet. The reviews are very positive as well. I've never thought about a response like that... that gives me the strength and the will to go on with Gorrenje. And "Rabenglanz" won't be the last release of Gorrenje... 5. Unnamed Silence: Correct me if I am wrong, but I believe this demo is self- produced? Any labels interested? Yes, you're right - I've made everything at home by myself, including covers. I had no one who assisted me and I didn't use a studio or something like that. Vargsang recorded the drumming in his cellar - actually he's the only person who helped me with the release. We mixed the recording together and I've done the mastering. I've made everything as good as possible. And I think it's a very good (sound-)quality for an underground project which has made and recorded everything on its own. And yes, there are a few labels which got in contact with me. And the decision about a label which will release my first full-length album is already done: Nebelfee Klangwerke will release the Album "Epoche der Dunkelheit" at a later date this year. Besides that Warfront Productions will release the "Rabenglanz" Tape, which contains the full "Rabenglanz" demo + bonustrack, in February 2005. 6. Unnamed Silence: What can we all expect for an upcoming full-length (album)? The tracks I've already written for this album are more depressive and filled with hate than you'll expect... They're very unique - every track has got his own history... what you know yet was just a little taste of that. Meanwhile, I found my own style to put my emotions into music... Gorrenje has become an individual project - but only time will show the path... 7. Unnamed Silence: Do you believe
Germany has a strong scene? And what is your If you're talking about the music; Yes, there are some great bands in germany and it seems like the german scene has gotten stronger in the last few years. But the "scene" itself with its people is small, I think, and people who are listening to black metal are very rare, especially in south germany - I think the scene is bigger in other parts of germany. People who really live and understand this form of music are much rare than that... The status of black metal...well, I think that there are a lot of morrons in this scene right now - so the status of Black Metal isn't the same as some years ago. I think that everything changes...we live in a different time so even black metal has gotten different. More labels...more webzines...it's easy to get in touch with black metal. Maybe that's the biggest difference to the "old black metal". If anyone is going to destroy Black Metal, it's the scene itself! 8. Unnamed Silence: I was wondering about the session musician Vargsang, is he the same Vargsang that is behind "Graven" and the solo project "Vargsang"? If so, how did this came to be? Yes, it's the same Vargsang. He's a very good friend of me and I asked him to play the drums for the "Rabenglanz" Demo. Vargsang is one of the few persons who really understand the essence of Black Metal - It's no wonder that those people are getting rarer each day because this "kiddie rumor and poser scene" is pissing them off. I respect each several work of Vargsang till this day.
Time will answer this question... There are no plans yet. 10. Unnamed Silence: Do you think that politics has a place in black metal? This is a difficult question...I don't have a problem with political themes in black metal but i think it's dependant on your own, how you see and construe it. Nordic Mythology has nothing to do with politics - also if it's often said. There's policy in every genre and it's just the question how you reinterpret it. I don't have a problem with any political theme behind black metal as long as the spirit can touch my soul. 11. Unnamed Silence: This is the end of the world...I leave the last words to you! Prepare yourself for a new era... the
false will fall - so raise your sword until the end of days... Thanks for the interview.
